Use these tips from fundraising experts to ensure that you not only have a successful school fundraiser but that you have fun and get the most out of your experience. It’s easy using to put the “fun” back into fundraising, just follow some of these proven strategies!
1. Use traditional sales techniques – Have students and those involved with presenting your fundraising project come up with a good introduction about the cause and the benefit of the products instead of immediately asking someone to buy something. Students should remember to introduce themselves and their group and emphasize the goal of the fundraiser. Appearing professional and extending a small “thank you” goes a long way when fundraising.
2. Play up the incentives and prizes – Incentive prizes help motivate students and keep them focused on their goals. Make sure your students are motivated by the “right” prizes. In addition to any incentive prizes provided by the fundraising company, motivate students by awarding them with a pizza party or homework passes if they reach a goal or sell the most. Get input from the students on what prizes they would like to see and don’t worry, sometimes the best prizes are free! Continue reading →

We love supporting green school fundraisers and reusable bags that help keep our world a little more clean and sustainable. What does “sustainability” mean? Read below to learn some terms that often come up in conversations about the environment and going green, and see how you can help Mixed Bag Designs in our journey to spread awareness about living a green lifestyle!
A carbon footprint measures the total amount of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions used or given off by a service or product. Both of these contribute to global warming and are important to keep track of when trying to be environmentally responsible.
We want to celebrate Earth Day with a bang. While our green fundraiser is one way to move toward a healthier lifestyle, we encourage everyone to come up with their own green solutions and tips, and want to share some of the best tips we have found in our own search to make the world a little greener!
1. Instead of using paper or plastic bags, bring a reusable bag to the store with you.
At Mixed Bag Designs, we love Earth Day and get super excited as this wonderful holiday approaches! As you may be aware, we are big fans of our reusable bags and green products in general. With April 22 around the corner, we wanted to share a little bit of Earth Day history with you.
At Mixed Bag Designs, we are all for having fun on Earth Day. Use some of these project ideas to teach your students how to make their homes a little greener and share the importance of green living with the community.
One of the best parts about working in the fundraising business is helping fantastic causes raise money and awareness for their campaigns to do better in the world. This week, Jackie, our Mixed Bag Designs representative in New York talked with the non-for-profit home care agency Home Aides of Rockland about their organization and their fundraiser. Read on to learn about the inspiring and admirable mission of Home Aides and how you can support them by simply purchasing a bag!
This week we received our PTO Today January edition, one of the most helpful resources for PTO leaders and parent organizations. Last year we developed a whole new fundraiser promotion zone with targeted online tips so we were delighted to see that PTO Today featured Facebook tips, social media tips and other applications that can facilitate PTO leaders’ jobs. Social media is extraordinarily helpful for organizing parent groups and school fundraisers but we also understand that it can be confusing and overwhelming. We think it’s great that publications like PTO Today are offering helpful tips and suggestions to organizations to help them take advantage of the technology that’s readily available to anyone with a smartphone or Internet access.
This list takes social media for fundraising one step further and examines the most helpful apps for PTOs and parent groups (apps are short for applications). The best part? All of these apps are free! So thanks to PTO Today, their readership and a few of our staff’s “don’t leave home without it” applications.
