Spring signifies a rejuvenation and fun energy renewal, and in design, this Spring will be bursting with bright and vibrant colors. Kicking off the bright color trend, Pantone named the vivid and elegant Emerald Green as the color of the year. Keep an eye out for the verdant shade popping up in stores soon! Mixed Bag Designs always embraces color in our fundraiser catalog and this Spring is no different. From on-trend greens to splashes of pinks and blues, you can support local fundraisers and be fashionable this season with some fun new splashes of color.
This week we received our PTO Today January edition, one of the most helpful resources for PTO leaders and parent organizations. Last year we developed a whole new promotion zone with targeted online tips so we were delighted to see that PTO Today featured Facebook tips, social media tips and other applications that can facilitate PTO leaders’ jobs. Social media is extraordinarily helpful for organizing parent groups and fundraisers but we also understand that it can be confusing and overwhelming. We think it’s great that publications like PTO Today are offering helpful tips and suggestions to organizations to help them take advantage of the technology that’s readily available to anyone with a smartphone or Internet access.

We found this awesome infographic on Twitter all about the important part that social media plays in fundraising. It’s amazing to see how quickly social media has become an integral part of fundraising, raising awareness and donations. We encourage our fundraisers to post information, photos and links on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter – and we’ve also seen fundraisers who have posted videos on YouTube.

The great team at Ray Marsh Elementary is tackling a pretty big issue: going green! They kicked off the 2012 school year with a new environmental committee to take on some issues and to promote healthy living habits for their students. This past Fall they had their first schoolwide can recycling drive, they also introduced a glue terracycle program and are currently collecting Christmas tree lights and cell phones for recycling programs. The kids are all getting excited about these environmental programs and their excitement helps keep the team going! Mixed Bag Designs was happy to support the elementary school’s efforts and donated lunch bags and foodies for their zero waste lunch program that will start this year.
The blogs and newspapers were buzzing yesterday with some green news! As part of a campaign to reduce waste and improve their environmental sustainability, Starbucks introduced a reusable plastic cup. At just $1 per cup, the new reusable cups match the traditional paper cups in size and showing off the iconic logo. The cups do not come with a lid, but fit the regular plastic lids.
