One of the best parts about working in the fundraising business is helping fantastic causes raise money and awareness for their campaigns to do better in the world. This week, Jackie, our Mixed Bag Designs representative in New York talked with the non-for-profit home care agency Home Aides of Rockland about their organization and their fundraiser. Read on to learn about the inspiring and admirable mission of Home Aides and how you can support them by simply purchasing a bag!
Spring signifies a rejuvenation and fun energy renewal, and in design, this Spring will be bursting with bright and vibrant colors. Kicking off the bright color trend, Pantone named the vivid and elegant Emerald Green as the color of the year. Keep an eye out for the verdant shade popping up in stores soon!
This week we received our PTO Today January edition, one of the most helpful resources for PTO leaders and parent organizations. Last year we developed a whole new fundraiser promotion zone with targeted online tips so we were delighted to see that PTO Today featured Facebook tips, social media tips and other applications that can facilitate PTO leaders’ jobs. Social media is extraordinarily helpful for organizing parent groups and school fundraisers but we also understand that it can be confusing and overwhelming. We think it’s great that publications like PTO Today are offering helpful tips and suggestions to organizations to help them take advantage of the technology that’s readily available to anyone with a smartphone or Internet access.
This list takes social media for fundraising one step further and examines the most helpful apps for PTOs and parent groups (apps are short for applications). The best part? All of these apps are free! So thanks to PTO Today, their readership and a few of our staff’s “don’t leave home without it” applications.
Successful school fundraisers involve teamwork, great products and creativity. At Mixed Bag Designs, we love to hear from fundraiser chairs to learn how they promote their fundraisers and the innovative ways that they try to raise money for their goals. Needless to say, there’s a lot of great ideas out there! Let’s see what school fundraisers have been up to with some fun and creative school fundraiser ideas.
We found this awesome infographic on Twitter all about the important part that social media plays in fundraising. It’s amazing to see how quickly social media has become an integral part of fundraising, raising awareness and donations. We encourage both teams and school fundraisers to post information, photos and links on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter – and we’ve also seen fundraisers who have posted videos on YouTube.
Social media offers an unprecedented opportunity to cast a wide net and reach a huge network of contacts with just one post. How do you use social media to raise awareness about your causes?
This past month, Angry Birds landed in a new “Angry Birds Space” world at the Space Center in Houston. The beloved video game comes to life in a special exhibition created for kids to play and explore.
Mixed Bag Designs has loved Angry Birds as part of our elementary school fundraisers’ prize program. Kids love the addicting game that lets you catapult birds into the air. At the Space Center, kids can slingshot birds as far as they can go in hopes that they get the pigs. The exhibition also includes 3D sculptures, photo ops and fun scenes from the Angry Birds Space game.

To kick off the work week, we decorated our halls and lobby with some of our favorite color stories from our latest fundraiser catalog. Kim, our sales director loves the navy totes and accessories. Amy from marketing can’t wait to get her hands on the recycling set. Which ones are your favorites? You can also shop our current collection on our Mixed Bag Designs Store. The Spring collection will be available online at the end of the month!
