The blogs and newspapers were buzzing yesterday with some green news! As part of a campaign to reduce waste and improve their environmental sustainability, Starbucks introduced a reusable plastic cup. At just $1 per cup, the new reusable cups match the traditional paper cups in size and showing off the iconic logo. The cups do not come with a lid, but fit the regular plastic lids.
As with any other reusable cup, Starbucks baristas will clean out your cup in boiling water and dock $.10 from your purchase. The coffee giant decided to take matters into their own hands since many customers did not bring in their own reusable cups. By offering these inexpensive reusable cups (that pay for themselves in 10 trips to Starbucks), the company hopes that their clientele will start to adapt the greener habit of using reusable cups.
