We’re big fans of healthy fundraisers, and it’s more important than ever to share the importance of healthy habits with our children and students, including eating wholesome foods and practicing eco-friendly ways of living. So we were excited when we heard from Fran Christensen, a retired food service broker who has worked with food her whole life and knows how valuable it can be to expose students to the culinary world. She’s the author of Cooking with Mrs. C: At School, and hopes she can use profits from her books to donate to school fundraisers, replacing old-fashioned candy and junk food fundraisers. In her book, she teaches important kitchen skills like how to properly hold a knife or put out a grease fire, and shares recipes that encourages using foods around the home creatively. She hopes to give students the confidence to give cooking a try and share their creations.
